CPSBM/01/01/09/2023:  Medical Officers -Job Group M (8 Posts)
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

  • Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail:

  1. Diagnosing, caring for, and treating diseases;
  2. Performing medical and surgical procedures;
  3. Preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters;
  4. Participating in the management of medicines, medical instruments, and equipment;
  5. Providing health education;
  6. Maintaining medical records, health Information, and data;
  7. Counselling patients and their relatives on diagnoses and bereavement;
  8. Teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students, and clinical officer interns; and preparing requisite documents for registration.
  • Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B.) degree from a recognized institution by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
  2. successfully completed one (1) year Internship from a recognized institution;
  3. Registration license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board and
  4. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

  2. Good knowledge in the professional field of specialization
  3. Good communication skills

CPSBM/02/01/09/2023:  Senior Assistant Director Medical Services/Medical Specialist I (Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist)-Job Group Q (1 Post)

Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

  • Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  1. Undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients;
  2. Carrying out specialized clinical care providing psycho-social interventions, providing clinical services to patients;
  3. Training, consulting and performing surgeries in various health facilities, carrying out forensic and medico-legal services;
  4. Coordinating disease surveillance, prevention, and control;
  5. Coordinating health education and promotion;
  6. Implementing health projects and programmes;
  7. Maintaining up-lo-date health information systems;
  8. Monitoring provision of health treatment and care;
  9. Undertaking health research; and analyzing medical reports.
  • Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

  1. Served as an Assistant Director of Medical Services/Medical Specialist Il for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  2. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B. Ch. B) degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
  3. Master’s degree in Obstetrician and gynecology or its equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
  4. Certificate of Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist board
  5. Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
  6. Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution,
  7. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
  8. Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as related in work preference and results
